Chhapra/ Patna : A minor monetary dispute turned into a communal flashpoint in Chhapra on Saturday, prompting heavy police patrolling in the area. The incident took place in Shiv Mohammadpur village under the Isuapur police station limits.

According to the written complaint submitted to the police, a customer, Amrinder Prasad, alleged that a dispute broke out with a fruit seller, Sahiban Ansari, over the purchase of bananas worth Rs 50. Prasad claimed he handed over a Rs 500 note and demanded Rs 450 as change, leading to an argument.

Prasad further alleged that during the altercation, the shopkeeper and his associates began threatening him. They allegedly made provocative statements, saying, “Just as 27 Hindus were killed in Kashmir, 2,700 Hindus will be killed here.” As the situation escalated, Prasad claimed that the shopkeeper and his group physically assaulted him before local residents intervened to stop the scuffle.

The police, taking cognisance of the seriousness of the allegations, have intensified patrolling in the area. The local administration has appealed to the public to maintain peace and communal harmony.

Authorities said the matter is under thorough investigation and strict action will be taken if any attempt to disturb law and order is found.

Police presence has been increased to ensure that no further tension arises in the region.
