Diwali Celebrations in Bihar: Administration on High Alert, Hospitals and Fire Brigade Prepared for Emergencies
Patna: As Diwali is celebrated across the country today, the Bihar administration has heightened its alert status to prevent accidents and ensure swift emergency responses during the festival. Various districts, including Patna, have issued special measures to address potential fire hazards and other emergencies that may arise during Deepotsav.
In Patna, several major hospitals have been placed on high alert to deal with any medical emergencies that may occur during the celebrations. Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), Nalanda Medical College Hospital (NMCH), Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), and AIIMS Patna are all prepared to offer 24-hour emergency services. Medical teams, including doctors and support staff, will be present throughout the day to ensure prompt treatment for any injuries or health issues.

Patna district’s fire services have also been placed on high alert. Fire Officer Manoj Nat stated that 96 fire vehicles, manned by 300 experienced personnel, will be deployed across 45 slum areas in the city to prevent fire incidents. The vehicles and crews will be stationed in strategic locations to ensure rapid response to any reported fire outbreaks.
In Bhagalpur, the fire brigade team has devised a plan to reach fire incident sites within two to five minutes. Authorities have identified sensitive areas across the city and have positioned fire brigades at 15 major intersections. To ensure coverage in densely populated slum areas and narrow lanes, 13 small and 10 large vehicles have been allocated.
More than 70 firefighters will be on duty today in Bhagalpur, with five personnel stationed at a firecracker sales center in the district school. Additionally, two mobile control rooms will remain active 24 hours to coordinate responses. These control rooms, set up at the Sadar subdivision office and the Bhagalpur fire station, will monitor the situation in real-time using Google Maps and GPS.
