Patna: District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh inspected the Patna Collectorate premises on Thursday, reviewing the construction progress of the new Collectorate building. The Executive Engineer of Structure Division-1, Building Construction Department, briefed the DM on the progress, covering various aspects such as floor-wise timelines, emergency evacuation facilities, fire safety, and other infrastructure details. The DM expressed satisfaction with the pace of the work and emphasized the need for timely completion.
The new building, designed to be earthquake-resistant, will feature five floors in addition to a basement and ground floor. It will incorporate modern amenities like solar panels and a rainwater harvesting system. The building aims to serve as a one-stop solution for district residents, housing all district administration offices under one roof. This design is intended to enhance the efficiency of public services and present an image of modern and progressive Bihar.
Located on the banks of the Ganga river, the new complex will combine modern and traditional architectural styles. It will include separate entrances for different departments, a central green public plaza, underground and open parking, and a VRV system-based centralized air conditioning. The complex will also feature a canteen, bank facilities, and state-of-the-art security systems, including CCTV surveillance and a public address system. About 200 to 225 CCTV cameras will be installed to ensure security.
The Collectorate complex will cover a plot area of 43,454 square meters (10.74 acres) with a built-up area of 28,388 square meters. Apart from the central building, the complex will have two additional blocks for the SDO and DDC offices and the District Board Office and Multi-Utility Building Block. The SDO and DDC blocks will have four floors in addition to the basement and ground floor. The complex will provide about 205 open parking spaces and 240 basement parking spaces.
To ensure convenience for the general public, the building will offer excellent facilities including ample seating, adequate toilets, drinking water, and natural light and ventilation. The construction work, which started on May 18, 2022, under the supervision of Secretary of the Building Construction Department and Patna Division Commissioner Kumar Ravi, is progressing rapidly. The new complex is set to become a significant landmark in Patna.
DM Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh highlighted that this ultra-modern building, located on the banks of the Ganga river, will be an excellent example of architecture, reflecting the government’s humane and environment-friendly approach towards development. The general public will benefit from the best facilities once the construction is completed. Senior officials, including the Senior Superintendent of Police, Deputy Development Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Officer, and others, were present during the inspection.
