DM-SSP Reviews Shravani Mela Preparations in Bhagalpur, Orders Cleanliness at Ganga Ghats

Bhagalpur: As preparations for the revered Shravani Mela intensify, Bhagalpur’s Divisional Commissioner undertook a detailed inspection of Sultanganj’s Ajaibinath Dham on Saturday, joined by the District Magistrate, Senior Superintendent of Police and officials from the municipal council and other departments. The visit marked a crucial checkpoint ahead of the annual month-long religious pilgrimage that draws lakhs of Kanwariyas from across India.
The administrative team visited Namami Gange Ghat and Ajaibinath Ganga Ghat to assess on-ground readiness. Priority was placed on core facilities such as drinking water, sanitation, rest areas, lighting and medical services. Special emphasis was given to keeping the ghats clean and illuminated, and to ensuring smooth crowd movement through encroachment-free routes.
“The convenience and safety of Kanwariyas must remain our top concern,” the Commissioner told reporters after the inspection. He called for robust coordination among departments and ordered the deployment of women police personnel, civil defence units, and volunteers to support security.
After the site review, senior officials offered prayers at the Ajaibinath Temple and inspected the temple’s premises, including the darshan arrangements and sanitation facilities. They also reviewed plans for setting up mobile toilets, water supply points, lighting, and emergency health camps.
Assuring the public, the Commissioner said, “This year, arrangements will be more comprehensive than ever. All necessary measures will be taken to ensure a safe and smooth experience for pilgrims.”
