Doctors to Discuss HIV-Related Parasitic Infections at Bihar Medical Conference

Patna : A national medical conference focusing on the growing threat of parasitic infections in HIV-positive patients is set to take place in Patna this weekend. Organised by the Department of Microbiology at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), the ‘Bihar TROPACON 2025’ conference will be held on April 5 at a local hotel, drawing around 200 doctors from across the country.
With the theme ‘Parasitic infections in HIV-positive patients: a growing threat,’ the conference aims to highlight the significant health risks these infections pose to individuals with compromised immune systems. Experts will discuss the challenges associated with diagnosing and managing parasitic infections in HIV patients, which contribute to increased morbidity and mortality.
Dr Priyanka Narayan, assistant professor at PMCH, serves as the organising secretary of the event, with Dr Vijay Kumar, head of the microbiology department at PMCH, acting as chairman. The conference will also host Smt Pratibha Rani, project director of the Bihar State AIDS Control Society, as the chief guest.
The gathering will provide a platform for clinicians to exchange research findings, discuss best practices, and enhance collaboration in tackling HIV-related infections. By fostering dialogue and knowledge-sharing, organisers hope to advance the timely diagnosis and effective treatment of parasitic diseases in HIV-positive individuals, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
