Patna: Dr Ratnesh Chaudhary of IGIMS Patna has become the first doctor in the country to successfully complete the newly launched Advanced Healthcare Management Course, jointly offered by IIM Nagpur and AIIMS Nagpur.

The course, introduced in 2024, marked the first collaboration between two of India’s premier institutions to train medical professionals in healthcare leadership and management. Out of 80 doctors selected nationwide for the inaugural batch, only 57 completed the postgraduate-level programme. Among them was Dr Chaudhary, who was also appointed Class Representative in recognition of his leadership and academic contribution.

Conducted in hybrid mode, the course brought together participants from across India as well as from countries including Norway, Nepal and the UAE. During a four-day immersion programme at IIM Nagpur, graduating doctors were awarded their degrees, and Dr Chaudhary’s team presented a genomics and artificial intelligence-based startup proposal on the INFED innovation platform.

Beyond his academic achievements, Dr Chaudhary also provided key suggestions to IIM, AIIMS and IIT faculty on enhancing the course structure and future planning. As alumni, the participating doctors are expected to contribute to ongoing healthcare reforms and innovation in India and beyond.

“This initiative marks a significant step towards bridging the gap between medical practice and healthcare management,” Dr Chaudhary said.
