Durga Puja: Dry and Foggy Weather Forecasted for Patna and Surrounding Regions

Patna, 19th October 2023: As per the latest weather report, conditions across the state of Bihar, including its capital Patna, are expected to remain generally dry with foggy mornings for the coming days. The Meteorological Department predicts a possible temperature drop across the state in the next 48 hours.

Favorable Conditions During Durga Puja

The weather during the upcoming Durga Puja festival, scheduled for 22-24 October, is forecasted to be generally favorable. Mornings and evenings are expected to be slightly cold with foggy conditions in Patna and other parts of the state.

Temperature Outlook

In areas including Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Begusarai, Jehanabad, and Lakhisarai, the maximum temperatures are expected to hover between 29-31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will likely range between 19-21 degrees Celsius.

In North-West regions like East and West Champaran, Siwan, Saran, and Gopalganj, temperatures are forecasted to lie between 28-30 degrees Celsius, with possibilities of light to moderate fog.

Recent Weather Data

Over the last 24 hours, Gopalganj recorded 5.5 mm of rainfall, and Khagaria saw 0.5 mm. However, the weather in Patna and surrounding areas remained dry, with a slight fog observed in the morning.

Below-Normal Rainfall

The southwest monsoon officially withdrew from the state on October 17. The Meteorological Center in Patna reported that the state received 23% less rainfall than normal this season, recording 760.5 mm against the expected 992.2 mm.

Temperature Records

In a temperature breakdown for major cities, Patna saw a maximum of 31.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Gaya at 30.9, Bhagalpur at 33.4, and Muzaffarpur at 29.0 degrees.

Residents are advised to be prepared for the changing weather conditions, especially during the morning hours when visibility may be significantly reduced due to fog.
