East Central Railway Achieves Record Freight Transport, Generates Rs 31,303 Crore Revenue

Patna: The East Central Railway (ECR) has reached a significant milestone, transporting over 200 million tonnes of freight and generating an initial revenue of Rs 31,303 crore in the financial year 2024-25.
ECR general manager Chhatrasal Singh hailed the achievement and congratulated officers and employees for their contributions. The railway transported 200.32 million tonnes of freight, securing a position among the top four regional railways of Indian Railways in terms of freight transport.
Freight services contributed Rs 26,106 crore to the total revenue, making ECR the second-highest revenue-generating regional railway in this category. The railway also saw strong performance in passenger services, earning Rs 4,580 crore—an increase of 12.01% compared with Rs 4,088 crore in the previous financial year.
The figures highlight the growing efficiency of East Central Railway, reinforcing its crucial role in supporting the Indian Railways’ economy.
