East Central Railway Enhances Passenger Convenience with Escalators and Lifts at Patna and Patliputra Stations
Patna: East Central Railway (ECR) is implementing several measures to improve passenger convenience, with a particular focus on providing facilities for senior citizens, women, and people with disabilities. As part of this initiative, escalators and lifts are being installed at major stations across the zone to facilitate easier movement between platforms.
To date, ECR has installed 33 escalators and 49 lifts at key stations. Plans are underway to add another 35 escalators and 34 lifts to further enhance accessibility.
Specifically, Patna Junction now features six escalators, while Patliputra, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Ara, Buxar, Gaya, DDU, Dhanbad each have two escalators installed. Muzaffarpur and Samastipur stations each have four escalators, and Darbhanga station is equipped with five escalators. Additionally, preparations are in progress to install four more escalators at Patna Junction, and two each at Patna Sahib, Danapur, and Ara within the Danapur Division. Hajipur will also see the installation of two escalators.
ECR has also made significant strides in installing lifts. Four stations within the Danapur Division—Patna, Rajendra Nagar, Pataliputra, and Buxar—are now equipped with lifts. In total, 49 lifts have been installed at various stations, including Gaya and Sasaram in the DDU Division, Hajipur, Sonpur, Muzaffarpur, and Barauni in the Sonpur Division, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Saharsa, Narkatiaganj, Bettiah, and Madhubani in the Samastipur Division, and Dhanbad, Koderma, and Daltonganj in the Dhanbad Division.
Further installations are planned, with four lifts set to be added at Patna Junction, one at Rajendra Terminal, two at Patna Sahib, four at Danapur, two at Ara, two at DDU Junction, and one each at Sasaram, Anugrah Narayan Road, Dehri R Sone, and Khagaria.
