East Central Railway Reviews Mahashivratri Preparations, Focuses on Crowd Management

Patna: The East Central Railway (ECR) has intensified preparations ahead of Mahashivratri and last leg of Mahakumbh-2025, with a focus on crowd management and passenger safety. In a high-level meeting held at the ECR headquarters in Hajipur on Tuesday, General Manager Chhatrasal Singh reviewed measures being implemented across railway divisions to ensure smooth operations during the anticipated surge in passenger traffic.
Divisional Railway Managers from all five divisions participated in the meeting via video conferencing, alongside senior officials and department heads. The discussion centered on steps being taken to manage crowds at railway stations and inside trains, as well as the operation of Kumbh special trains to accommodate increased footfall.
The General Manager emphasized that there should be no lapses in crowd management and instructed railway officials to coordinate closely with district administrations to enhance passenger safety. He specifically directed that platforms should not be changed at the last moment to avoid confusion among travelers. Special attention was given to key stations such as DDU Junction, Gaya, and Patna Junction, where large gatherings of devotees are expected.
Officials were also tasked with closely monitoring passenger movement through CCTV surveillance and making arrangements for additional special trains if required. Immediate action was mandated to ensure seamless travel for pilgrims, reinforcing the railway’s commitment to efficient and safe transportation during the festival.
