East Champaran to Receive Infrastructure Boost Worth Over Rs 200 Crore, Says Bihar Minister

Motihari: East Champaran district is set to benefit from infrastructure development projects worth over Rs 200 crore, according to Bihar’s Road Construction Minister, Nitin Naveen. The minister laid the foundation stone for seven road and drainage schemes in Chakia and Motihari on Sunday, marking what he described as “a new chapter” in the region’s road connectivity.
At a press conference held at the district guest house in Motihari, Naveen highlighted the government’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure in the region. “Under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Chief Minister, the NDA government is transforming road connectivity in East Champaran. These schemes are not only aimed at infrastructure improvement but will also ensure smoother and safer transport for residents,” he said.
The projects include the widening and strengthening of the Tetaria Narha-Narwara road (12.1 km) and the Chakia-Madhurapur road (13 km), both in the Pipra Assembly constituency, with a combined estimated cost of Rs 100 crore. An additional Rs 30 crore will be spent on five other major road projects in the Motihari area, which involve drainage systems, paver blocks, and road upgrades.
Specific routes covered under these projects include:
- Block Office Motihari to Government Bus Stand (via Nehru Stadium and Primary Health Centre)
- Mathia Chowk to Mathia Jirat (Dhaka Path)
- Chhatauni to Rowing Club
- Chhatauni Police Station to Arya Samaj Mandir Chowk
- Bariyarpur to Airport Chowk, with a divider from Balua Flyover to Town Police Station to Gayatri Mandir
Naveen added that these developments would significantly improve urban infrastructure, traffic management, and public amenities in Motihari. “The Road Construction Department is also progressing on rejuvenation plans for other key routes, with funding allocated and tenders already issued. These works are expected to ease daily travel for local residents.”
