ECR GM Chhatrasal Singh Reviews Construction Work, Urges Timely Completion

East Central Railway’s General Manager has called for the wider use of new technologies to fast-track construction projects and improve outcomes for rail users.

Hajipur/Patna: The General Manager of East Central Railway, Chhatrasal Singh, conducted a high-level review of ongoing and upcoming railway construction projects during a meeting held at the Hajipur headquarters on Wednesday. The session was attended by senior officials, including Additional General Manager Amarendra Kumar, Chief Administrative Officer (North) Ram Janm, and Chief Administrative Officer (South) Ramashray Pandey.

The review covered a broad spectrum of projects, such as the Muzaffarpur–Sagauli and Sagauli–Valmikinagar doubling works, as well as new lines like Koderma–Tilaiya and Araria–Supaul. Other developments discussed included the Samastipur–Darbhanga and Hajipur–Sagauli sections, the Asthawan–Barbigha corridor, the Tori–Shivpur third line, and infrastructure enhancements at Gomo flyover and Sindri yard.

Using a presentation to showcase both achievements and targets, the construction department briefed the General Manager on progress made in previous years and outlined goals for the 2025–26 period. Singh praised the team’s efforts and urged the adoption of modern technology to better meet public expectations. He underscored the need for timely completion of works and insisted on regular, intensive monitoring.

Particular attention was drawn to the completion of 117 km of track-related construction in 2024–25, including 44 km of new lines and 73 km of doubling works. Emphasising safety, East Central Railway also delivered seven Road Over Bridges (ROBs), 19 Road Under Bridges (RUBs), 30 electronic interlocking systems, automatic block signalling across 122 route km, and ‘Kavach’ safety systems on 149 route km.

Looking ahead, the railway aims to deliver 274 km of new and doubling work in 2025–26, comprising 90 km of new lines and 184 km of track doubling.

Singh also highlighted the strategic importance of ROBs, RUBs, and bypasses in ensuring smooth and uninterrupted rail and road traffic across the network.
