ED Raids 11 Places in Bihar and Other States in Police Paper Leak Case

The Enforcement Directorate raided 11 locations linked to a police exam paper leak, including homes of key accused and a printing press.

Patna: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out raids at 11 locations across Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal on Thursday. These raids are part of an investigation into the Bihar Police constable recruitment paper leak case. The ED is looking into money laundering linked to the leak, which affected over 21,000 job applicants last year.

The homes of Sanjeev Mukhiya and his son Dr Shiv, both accused in the Bihar Police and NEET paper leaks, were searched in Danapur (Patna) and Nagarnausa (Nalanda). In Nalanda, ED officials also raided the home of Pappu Paswan, another accused. In total, documents like student certificates, blank cheques, and digital devices were seized. Raids were also conducted at a printing press in Kolkata and the home of an agent in Lucknow.

In Nalanda, ED officials faced resistance from villagers when they reached the homes of the accused. Women reportedly snatched mobile phones from ED officers, forcing police from nearby stations to intervene and restore order. ED officers blamed relatives of the accused for provoking the crowd.

The Bihar Police recruitment exam took place on 1 October 2023 but was cancelled after the answer key was leaked online before the test. The ED’s action follows earlier investigations by Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit. Several arrests have already been made, including members of a gang involved in leaking papers for various exams.
