ED seizes assets worth Rs. 23.72 crore in case against Bihar IAS officer Sanjeev Hans

Patna: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized assets worth Rs. 23.72 crore as part of its investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering involving Sanjeev Hans, a 1997-batch Bihar cadre IAS officer. The seized properties include three land plots in Nagpur, a flat in Delhi, and three flats in Jaipur, allegedly acquired through disproportionate income and held in the names of Hans’s associates, Praveen Chaudhary and Pushpraj Bajaj.

The action follows raids conducted by the ED on October 18 and 19 at the residences of Sanjeev Hans and his associate, former MLA Gulab Yadav. Both were arrested after the raids, with Hans subsequently remanded for seven days of interrogation. Officials say the questioning revealed further details of benami properties, leading to the seizure of additional assets.

According to the ED, Hans, along with Yadav and other associates, allegedly acquired several benami properties across Mohali, Kasauli, and other parts of the country. The agency’s investigation has revealed large-scale irregularities and accumulation of wealth beyond known sources of income.

The ED’s latest action is part of its ongoing crackdown on financial irregularities, particularly cases involving misuse of public office for personal enrichment.
