Begusarai: A shocking incident has come to light from a government school in Begusarai, where a headmistress was caught on camera taking money from students in exchange for awarding marks in board practical examinations. The video, which surfaced on social media, has sparked outrage and prompted swift action by the district administration.

The accused headmistress, Pragati Kumari, of Upkramit Madhyamik Vidyalaya Naya Tola Kalyanpur, was seen in the viral video accepting money from students. The students can be heard questioning her, saying, “Ma’am, won’t you take anything less?” It is alleged that Rs 1,400 was taken from two students, with promises to award them 29, 29, and 28 marks in three subjects. The entire episode was secretly recorded and subsequently shared online, where it quickly went viral, drawing widespread criticism and condemnation.

Administrative Action Taken

Responding to the viral video, Begusarai District Magistrate Tushar Singla took cognizance of the matter and directed immediate action. Pragati Kumari has been suspended, and a departmental investigation has been initiated. DM Singla said, “A video of the headmistress collecting money in the name of practical exams surfaced. Action has been taken based on this video, and she has been suspended with immediate effect.”

Additionally, the District Education Officer has been instructed to conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate measures to address the issue. According to initial findings, the allegations against the headmistress have been confirmed.
