Patna : Entertainment programming has resumed on the mega screen at Gandhi Maidan, Patna, after a long hiatus. The initiative, part of the Patna Smart City project, formally restarted on Monday evening with a live performance by singer Altaf Raja, drawing a significant crowd to the historic ground.
The 75-by-42-foot LED screen, located near Gate No. 4 of Gandhi Maidan, had been non-operational following the lapse of its initial operating tender. Its revival marks a fresh phase for the Rs 6.98 crore project, with films, documentaries and sporting events once again scheduled for regular broadcast.
Screenings begin after sunset and make use of a Dolby Digital Sound System. With a seating capacity for around 5,000 viewers, the initiative aims to provide accessible entertainment in a public space.
A control room adjacent to the screen manages the broadcasts. The project was originally inaugurated three years ago by the Chief Minister, with free weekend screenings becoming a popular attraction until operations were suspended.
