Female Constable Shot in Bihar’s Kaimur in Broad Daylight, Police begin Investigation

Female constable Sarita Kumari shot in back by unknown assailants in Bihar’s Kaimur district while heading to duty; investigation underway.

Kaimur: A female constable was critically injured after being shot by unidentified assailants in Bihar’s Kaimur district on Sunday. The victim, Sarita Kumari, who is posted in Madhepura district, was en route to Kudra railway station with her husband when the attack occurred. The assailants, reported to be two men riding a motorcycle, intercepted the couple on the GT Road and shot her in the back before fleeing the scene.

Following the incident, Sarita was initially taken to Bhabua Sadar Hospital for emergency treatment. She was later referred to a higher medical facility in Varanasi due to the severity of her injuries.

Local sources say Sarita Kumari had been living in a rented accommodation near the area and was on her way to report for duty when the shooting took place. She hails from Bhitari Bandh under the jurisdiction of Karmachat police station.

Police have begun a full-scale investigation and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from around Kudra railway station to identify the perpetrators. No clear motive has yet been established, and authorities say all possible angles are being considered.
