Patna: A state-level training programme for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) concluded in Patna on Tuesday as Bihar ramps up preparations for the upcoming Legislative Assembly Elections. The final phase of the training saw participation from 120 EROs representing all districts across the state.
Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar, Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, addressed the officers, stressing the importance of early groundwork, including physical verification of polling booths and ensuring Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF). He urged officials to use birth and death registration data to clean up electoral rolls and emphasised the need for booth-wise data analysis to address discrepancies in the electoral sex ratio.
“The names of all eligible youth must be included in the electoral roll,” Gunjiyal said, underlining the need for inclusive and accurate voter registration ahead of the polls.
The training also featured sessions led by National Level Master Trainers and senior officials, including Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Priyadarshi, Ratnambar Nilay, Manoj Kumar Singh, NLMT Yashlok Ranjan, and Junior Electoral Officer Shikha Sinha. They provided detailed guidance on constitutional and legal frameworks surrounding voter list maintenance and the ERO Net platform.
To conclude the session, the Election Commission of India conducted an online evaluation of all participating officers.
