Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Visits Bihar, Distributes Loans Worth ₹1300 Crore in Darbhanga
Patna: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman commenced her two-day visit to Bihar with a Regional Rural Bank (RRB) review meeting held at Hotel Taj in Patna. Joined by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and other leaders, she reviewed key financial initiatives and discussed strategies to enhance rural financial inclusion before proceeding to Darbhanga.
At around 2:30 pm, the Finance Minister arrived at Darbhanga Airport and travelled by road to Raj Maidan to participate in a credit outreach program. During the event, ₹1300 crore worth of loans were distributed to 45,000 beneficiaries under various schemes focused on entrepreneurship, agriculture, and vehicle financing.
Following the credit distribution ceremony, Sitharaman inaugurated the MP office in Ward 44 at Balbhadrapur and later visited Mithila Haat in Madhubani. She underscored the importance of fostering entrepreneurship and rural development through accessible financial resources, emphasising the government’s commitment to empowering individuals and communities.
Several prominent leaders accompanied her during the visit, including Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, MP Gopal Ji Thakur, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Sanjay Kumar Jha, and MPs Dr. Ashok Kumar Yadav and Shambhavi Chaudhary. Sitharaman concluded her engagements for the day in Madhubani, where she stayed overnight before continuing her itinerary in Bihar.
