FIR Filed Against 31 Police Officers in Madhepura for Negligence in Case Investigations

Madhepura: In a major shake-up within the police department, an FIR has been registered against 31 police officers in Madhepura for negligence in investigating long-pending criminal cases. The action, taken on the directive of Bihar DGP, has caused a stir within the department.
The DGP had recently expressed displeasure over the delay in investigating criminal cases and instructed all district SPs to take strict action against officers who had failed to complete their assigned cases. Following these orders, Madhepura SP Sandeep Singh conducted a departmental review, which revealed significant lapses in investigations.
Cases Left Uninvestigated for Over a Decade
During the review of the Sadar police station, it was found that several officers had left investigations pending for years, with some cases remaining incomplete for 10 to 12 years. Despite repeated written instructions from the police department to expedite the investigations, the officers failed to take action.
As a result, a case (FIR No. 230/25) was registered against 31 police officers for dereliction of duty.

The police department has now taken the step of registering an FIR, signaling a tough stance against officers neglecting their duties.
