Patna: A long-running land dispute in the Dilawarpur village of Patna’s Amahara police station area turned violent on the evening of June 15, as gunfire and stone-pelting broke out between two rival groups. One youth was injured and admitted to hospital, while authorities have recovered multiple bullet shells from the scene.
According to the victim’s family, tensions flared in English Tola locality when a group led by individuals identified as Mithilesh Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav and their relatives arrived at their home and began hurling abuses and stones. Witnesses allege that members of the group, including Ramkrishna Gopal and Munna, opened fire during the confrontation.
Five bullet shells were found at the scene, and visible damage from the gunfire — including bullet holes in the house’s walls — was reported. Vijendra Yadav, whose nephew Sunny Kumar sustained injuries, claimed that around 35 rounds were fired in total.
“This land dispute has been going on for months,” Vijendra said. “There was another flare-up just three days ago. We have filed a written complaint with the police.”
A police team arrived promptly at the location after being alerted. SHO Shiv Shankar Kumar confirmed that a case had been registered and a youth was indeed injured, though it is still under investigation whether he was struck by a bullet or stones.
All accused individuals fled the scene before police could apprehend them. Officers are currently stationed in the village and are conducting searches to locate and arrest the suspects.
Though tensions ran high following the violence, local authorities reported that the situation has now been brought under control.
