Patna: A firing incident outside Patna Women’s College on Tuesday created chaos in the area. A young man was injured in the incident and was immediately taken to PMCH for treatment. The firing reportedly took place during a clash between ABVP students outside the college, leading to panic among students and passersby.

According to eyewitnesses, the cars present at the scene, including the one near which the firing happened and the vehicle used to transport the injured, belonged to ABVP members. All the vehicles had ABVP banners, and the individuals involved were identified as students from Saidpur Hostel. The incident occurred amid heightened tensions due to the ongoing Patna University student union elections.

The student election campaign is in full swing, with candidates and supporters actively canvassing for votes. Maithili Mrinalini is contesting for the post of president from Women’s College, and many students are engaged in her campaign. The firing reportedly happened during one such campaign activity, though the exact cause of the altercation is yet to be determined.

Following the incident, Kotwali police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. Authorities are questioning witnesses and examining the circumstances leading to the firing. The situation remains tense, and security has been tightened around the college to prevent further disturbances.
