Five Arrested After Attack on Female Candidate and Journalist During Patna Student Union Elections

Patna : Authorities in Patna have arrested five individuals in connection with the assault on a female candidate and a journalist during the Patna University student union election campaign.

Journalist Krishnanandan Kumar, who was covering the election proceedings, and candidate Saloni were attacked during an event at Magadh Mahila College. Following the incident, police conducted a raid at the BN College hostel, leading to the arrest of five suspects – Nitish Kumar, Raghav Kumar, Abhinandan Kumar, Deepak Kumar, and Sanjeev.

Rajesh Kumar, officer-in-charge of Gandhi Maidan police station, confirmed that the suspects were identified using CCTV footage from the site of the incident.

Of those arrested, Nitish, Abhinandan, and Sanjeev are from Jehanabad district, Deepak hails from Naubatpur, and Raghav is from Darbhanga district.

The arrests come as tensions rise around the student union elections, which have been marred by allegations of violence and misconduct.
