Flights Disrupted in Patna Due to Dense Fog

Patna: Dense fog has disrupted flight operations at Patna Airport, with no landings recorded thus far. The first scheduled arrival was slated for 10am, but as of now, there is no update on its arrival.

The runway visibility at Patna Airport has remained below 700 meters throughout the morning, potentially causing delays for flights scheduled to arrive until 1 o’clock. Indigo’s Spice Jet SG 323, inbound from Hyderabad, was canceled, adding to the growing list of flight disruptions, with several flights experiencing delays.

The inadequate support system for landing in low visibility conditions is compounding the issue. When visibility drops below 1000 meters, it becomes challenging for planes to land safely. Currently, the visibility at Patna Airport stands at 700 meters, contributing to ongoing delays. Patna’s airport runway, already short, requires flights to land at a steeper angle (3 degrees), which can pose risks.
