Flights From Patna to Chandigarh, Hindon and Bhubaneswar Cancelled Amid Tensions With Pakistan

Patna: Air connectivity between Patna and three major Indian cities — Chandigarh, Hindon and Bhubaneswar — has been disrupted, with one flight on each route cancelled until May 15, following heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. The cancellations, which began on May 10, remain in effect with no available bookings on major ticketing platforms for these routes through next week.

Among the suspended services are IndiGo’s flights 6E 6494 and 6E 6485 operating on the Chandigarh–Patna–Bhubaneswar sector, and Air India Express flight IX 1591/1592 on the Kolkata–Patna–Hindon route. The affected flights were grounded again on Saturday, as security concerns lingered over regional airspace.

Airlines are offering full refunds to affected passengers. On Saturday alone, around 1,700 travellers cancelled their air tickets, particularly for destinations including Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, and Delhi. With the onset of summer holidays, many families opted to cancel planned trips, leading to a spike in cancellations by early afternoon.

By 2pm, 1,500 tickets had been cancelled online, the majority being connecting international and domestic itineraries. Notably, at least 13 passengers also cancelled their travel plans to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. However, the pace of cancellations eased after 6pm as uncertainty over further disruptions remained.
