Patna: In a bid to beautify Patna and tackle rising air pollution, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has installed water fountains with vibrant lighting at 15 major intersections across the city. The initiative, part of a wider campaign to reduce pollution and improve urban aesthetics, is also bringing much-needed relief to residents amid the intense summer heat.
The colourful fountains have been strategically placed at busy junctions such as Vikas Bhawan, Ashiana Digha Mor, Boring Road Chauhara, and the Airport Golambhar, among others. Not only do they enhance the city’s visual appeal, but they also play a practical role by helping to settle dust and purify the surrounding air.
“The fountains are proving to be both a visual delight and a functional addition to the city’s environmental efforts,” a senior PMC official said.
In addition to the fountains, PMC continues to sprinkle water on roads day and night and remove construction and demolition waste as part of its ongoing measures to reduce particulate matter in the air.
Fountains have been installed at the following locations:
- Vikas Bhawan
- Ashiana Digha Mor
- Sheikhpura Mor
- Boring Road Chauhara
- Airport Golambhar
- Sahdev Mahato Marg
- Bapu Tower
- Eco Park
- Anisabad Golambhar
- Vivekananda Marg
- McDowell Golambhar
- Buddha Murti
- Chirayatand Bridge
- Kankarbagh Tempo Stand

A dedicated agency has been tasked with the daily operation and maintenance of the fountains. Reports are reviewed every day through the control room to ensure uninterrupted functioning and upkeep.
