
Patna: Four members of a family died and three others were critically injured after an auto-rickshaw returning from a wedding ceremony crashed into a parked truck on NH-27 near the Mewat Line Hotel in Motihari, Bihar, on Thursday morning.
The victims were returning from the wedding of Asanarayan Shah’s daughter, which had taken place at a private hotel in Awadhesh Chowk, Motihari. The collision occurred near Dumria Ghat police station in East Champaran district while the family was en route home.
One person died on the spot, while three others succumbed to injuries during treatment at Motihari Sadar Hospital. Three more passengers remain in critical condition. They have been identified as Aman Kumar, Sujal, Ramjivan Kumar, and Shani Kumar — all residents of Mohammadpur.
Among the deceased was Deepak Shah, 30, the bride’s uncle. The driver of the auto was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle after the crash.
Both the auto-rickshaw and the truck have been seized. A police investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
