Four Killed, Five Injured as Wedding Party’s Vehicle Crashes in Begusarai

Begusarai/Patna: Four people were killed and five others seriously injured after a speeding Scorpio crashed into a divider on National Highway 31 near Khatopur in Begusarai. The accident occurred in the early hours of the morning in the Lakho police station area.

According to officials, all the passengers were returning from a wedding procession when the vehicle lost control and collided with the divider. Preliminary reports suggest that a tyre puncture may have caused the driver to lose control. The impact left four dead on the spot, while five others sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Begusarai Sadar Hospital for treatment.

Shatrughan Kumar, a member of the wedding party who was following in another vehicle, said, “We were returning from Sahebpur Kamal block when the accident happened near Khatopur Chowk. The impact threw everyone onto the road, leaving four dead and several others injured.”

Begusarai Sadar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Subodh Kumar confirmed the details, stating, “Four people travelling in the Scorpio have died, and five are injured. All of them were returning from a wedding procession and are residents of Pahadchak in Lohia Nagar police station area. Their families have been informed.”

Authorities are investigating the incident, with initial findings pointing to high speed and a tyre puncture as possible causes of the crash.
