Four Policemen Injured in Stone-Pelting Incident During Arrest Attempt in Rohtas

Rohtas/Patna: Four police personnel, including a woman constable, were injured during a late-night raid on Tuesday in Moradabad village under the Sasaram Mufassil police station area, when villagers allegedly attacked a police team attempting to arrest two accused.

The police had gone to apprehend Shahid Qureshi, a warrant absconder, and Khalil Qureshi, who is wanted under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. However, upon learning of the police’s arrival, residents reportedly began pelting stones, leading to injuries to Havildar Rajendra Singh, Inspector Shatrughan Sinha, constable Sunil Kumar, and woman constable Suniti Kumari.

While the injured officers were taken to Sadar Hospital in Sasaram for treatment, the two accused were allegedly freed by the crowd during a physical altercation with the police.

A case has been registered against 25 named and several unidentified individuals in connection with the attack. According to police, over 30 suspected attackers have been identified as part of the investigation.

Rohtas Superintendent of Police, Roshan Kumar, downplayed the severity of the incident, stating that the police team was wearing helmets and body armour, which prevented serious injuries.
