Fresh Firing in Mokama Amid Anant Singh-Sonu-Monu Rivalry

Patna: Tensions escalated in Mokama on Friday morning as another round of gunfire was reported amid the ongoing rivalry between former MLA Anant Singh and gangsters Sonu and Monu. Five rounds were fired at 5.30 am outside the house of Mukesh Singh in Hemja village, Jalalpur. The Sonu-Monu gang has been accused of the attack.

The incident is being seen as a direct challenge to Anant Singh, who had visited Mukesh Singh’s house on Wednesday evening to help unlock it after it was allegedly sealed by the gang. Following that, Singh had reportedly gone to Nauranga, the home village of Sonu and Monu, where around 100 rounds of gunfire were exchanged between the two factions.

After Friday’s shooting, Panchmahal police station chief Prahlad Kumar Jha conducted a raid, leading to the arrest of gangster Sonu in Jalalpur. The arrest was confirmed by Barh SDPO Rakesh Kumar. Sonu is accused of assaulting Mukesh Singh and locking his house. Dumra resident Roshan Singh, a supporter of Anant Singh, was also detained during the police action.

Mukesh Singh alleged police apathy, claiming, “After the firing, when I called the police, they scolded me and dismissed the incident, saying no bullets were fired.” Guards have since been deployed at his house.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary assured the public that action is being taken, stating, “No one will be spared.” Patna SSP Awas Kumar confirmed the arrests of Sonu and Roshan and said other accused would soon be apprehended.

The recent violence follows an intense shootout in Nauranga on Wednesday evening. A video of that incident, which has gone viral, reportedly captures the sound of 20 rounds of gunfire in just 53 seconds.

As investigations continue, authorities remain on high alert in the area to prevent further escalation.
