From Dak Bungalow to Airport: What Roads Will Be Closed During PM Modi’s Patna Tour

Patna: A comprehensive traffic management plan has been issued for Bihar’s capital ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit on May 29, with the Patna Traffic Police announcing temporary restrictions, diversions, and special advisories to ensure smooth movement and security during the PM’s roadshow and official engagements.

The roadshow, which will begin from Patna Airport and proceed via Dumra Chowki, IPS Mess Mor, Hartali Mor, High Court, Income Tax Golambar, and culminate at the BJP state office on Beerchand Patel Path, will be held between 4pm and 8pm. During this period, significant traffic diversions will be in place across the city.

Patna Traffic SP’s office has issued a public advisory, urging residents—particularly air passengers scheduled to fly out of the city on May 29—to reach the airport at least three hours in advance. For travellers flying between 9am and 10:05am on May 30, additional restrictions are in place along routes passing through Patel Golambar.

As per the traffic plan:

  • Only vehicles carrying passengers with valid flight tickets will be allowed to access the airport via Patel Golambar.
  • Entry of vehicles will be restricted on routes connecting Patel Golambar to West Shahid Peer Ali Road and on Shaheed Peer Ali Marg from the Veterinary College side.
  • Vehicles from District Transport Office heading south must divert via Tamtam Padav and Phulwarisharif, while those coming from the north will reroute through Jagdeo Path.
  • Airport-bound passengers may be assisted by traffic police from District Transport Office (Phulwari) or Patel Golambar after ticket verification.

Key restrictions during the roadshow include:

  • No vehicle movement from Dumra TOP to Income Tax Golambar on Bailey Road (Nehru Path).
  • Raja Bazar flyover to Hartali Mor will be sealed off for vehicles from Saguna Mor and Danapur.
  • Eastbound traffic from Saguna Mor will be diverted via Jagdeo Path or Ashiana-Digha Road and Rajapur Bridge.
  • Heavy restrictions on Bailey Road, Dak Bungalow intersection, and Beerchand Patel Path, where both flanks will be closed for all vehicle types from R Block to Income Tax Golambar.

Emergency vehicles—including ambulances, fire tenders, and those on judicial duty—are exempt from restrictions. Officials have asked residents to cooperate and plan travel accordingly.

PM Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 50,000 crore, including the new terminal at Patna Airport and the Bihta civil enclave. His two-day visit will also see roadshows and public addresses, making security and traffic management a top priority for the administration.
