Patna: Known for her dignified presence in the corridors of power, senior IAS officer Bandana Preyashi is now drawing attention beyond official files—this time on social media. A 2003-batch officer of the Bihar cadre, Preyashi, recently moved from key departments such as Industries and Environment & Forest, is quietly commanding a new kind of influence: one crafted not through official orders or press notes, but through pointed wit and understated commentary on her X (formerly Twitter) handle.
Her latest X (formerly Twitter) post is the snackable proof: “Trying to refrain from munching on sarkari snacks during meetings is an act of extreme self control, immense will power & extraordinary restraint!! 🍪🍰🍱”
The tweet, liked over 250 times within 10 hours, triggered a flood of hilariously insightful replies. One user, going by the handle ‘Sydney Wale Chaai Gaba’, mused: “On a lighter note, aisa department de diya h ab investment k tweet naa aa k random tweets aate h. Yuva Bihariyo ki haay lagegi aapko hatane waley ko.”
Another user, Amit, offered spiritual solidarity: “Ma’am that’s like declining prasad at a temple… socially unacceptable and spiritually suspicious. Might even get a transfer for showing too much discipline😂.”
But perhaps the most relatable response came from Himanshu Shekhar: “Resisting sarkari snacks is tougher than clearing the UPSC—especially when the samosas are making direct eye contact! 🤣 Resisting them deserves a medal (or at least a sugar-free cookie)!”
One follower, Janhapanah, cut straight through the pastry puffery: “I would still prefer you to have it over giving in to sycophants getting through ‘babu’s’ office, consequently bringing shame to Bihari pride! 😂”
And it’s not just snacks that got the Preyashi treatment. On April 29, she wrote:
“Have developed cervical pain. Chalo at least during 22 years in the Service the spine has remained intact!! 😛🤭”
Cue applause and a volley of virtual pats on the back. One user, Nitish Yadav, responded with a diagnosis of sarcasm and a prescription of admiration: “I think you r going sarcastic way for u and for those who folded their spine before their political masters and their Criminal-Corruptic bureaucratic system. By the way, Get well soon mam.”
But behind the quips is a formidable career. During her tenure as Secretary, Department of Industries, Preyashi spearheaded initiatives positioning Bihar as India’s next industrial engine—pushing beyond its historical image. As Secretary in the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, she was a key voice for the Bihar government’s green initiatives, focusing on increasing the state’s green cover and promoting eco-tourism.
Even as her departmental postings shift, Bandana Preyashi’s digital dispatches continue to strike a chord—mixing candour with conscience and a dash of dry humour.
