Ara: A 15-year-old minor has been arrested in Bihar’s Bhojpur district after a young girl, missing for two days, was found dead, allegedly raped and then strangled. Her body was discovered on Saturday, hidden in a heap of cow dung behind a house in the Piro Nagar locality of Ara.
Police have also arrested the minor’s father and two brothers on suspicion of helping to destroy evidence. The deceased girl’s face and lower body reportedly showed blood marks.
Investigators, including a forensic science laboratory (FSL) team and a dog squad, were deployed to the scene to collect evidence. SP Raj confirmed the arrests of the main accused minor, his father, Mulgi Hashmi, and his two sons, all accused of involvement in concealing the crime.
The girl’s uncle stated that on the evening of July 3, his niece followed a drummer passing through their street. The accused minor allegedly lured her away, then raped and strangled her before burying her body in the cow dung heap.
When the girl did not return home, her family launched a search before filing a missing person report at Piro police station on Friday. Piro SDPO Krishna Kumar Singh and SHO Subodh Kumar led an overnight search operation, but the girl remained unfound.
The grim discovery was made on Saturday when a local boy noticed a foot protruding from the cow dung heap, alerting residents and the girl’s relatives. Police were immediately informed. According to the SP, the main accused’s father is believed to have washed blood-stained clothes to destroy evidence.
