Patna: Gola Road is set to undergo a major transformation as part of a broader initiative to ease traffic congestion in western Patna. The road, currently two-lane, will be expanded to four lanes, offering a crucial alternative route from Bailey Road to Ashok Rajpath. The expansion is expected to alleviate severe traffic jams that commuters face daily.
Meanwhile, the section of Bailey Road from Sardar Patel Bhawan (Police Headquarters) to Dakbunglow crossing will be converted into a smart road. Spanning approximately 5 km, the project has received approval from the Patna Smart City Board, with a budget of Rs 44.76 crore. The Road Construction Department (RCD) has been entrusted with executing the construction, which includes widening the road and introducing new facilities.
To further reduce congestion, the government has approved a two-lane road project by covering open drains on both sides of Bailey Road, stretching from Saguna Mor to Rupaspur Canal. Additionally, service lanes on Bailey Road will be converted into two-lane roads by covering existing drains, which currently contribute to heavy congestion, especially with ongoing metro construction work.
District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh recently inspected the project sites, accompanied by the Managing Director of Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) and officials from various departments, to expedite implementation.
