Patna: Gold prices in Patna surged past the Rs 1 lakh mark per 10 grams on Tuesday. The price of 24 carat gold jumped from Rs 94,400 to Rs 97,300 per 10 grams, and after including GST, the total cost stood at Rs 1,00,219.
The price hike also extended to silver. A kilogram of silver is now priced at Rs 97,000, which rises to Rs 99,910 after GST—just shy of the Rs 1 lakh milestone. Hallmarked silver jewellery is being sold at Rs 94 per gram.
Gold prices last reached the Rs 1 lakh mark during the Akshaya Tritiya festival, but had since stabilised. However, with the onset of May, prices have begun climbing again.
Notably, 22 carat gold is retailing at Rs 90,500 per 10 grams, while 18 carat gold is available at Rs 74,500 per 10 grams.
Data from the Patliputra Sarafa Sangh shows that in the last three months alone, gold prices have increased by Rs 10,000 per 10 grams. On February 24, the price of 24 carat gold was Rs 87,000. By April 21, it had reached Rs 97,100.
Silver too has shown upward momentum. On April 15, a Rs 1,000 spike brought silver to Rs 96,000 per kilogram, and prices have continued rising since then.
