Gonda-Barabanki Rail Work Affects Nine Trains: Lucknow-Patliputra, Anand Vihar-Chhapra Services Among Those Hit in June-July

Nine train services, including the Lucknow-Patliputra Express and Anand Vihar-Chhapra Special, will be affected by cancellations and diversions in June and July due to third-line construction work on the Gonda-Barabanki section of the Northeast Railway.

Patna: Rail passengers across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar face significant travel disruptions through June and July as the Northeast Railway carries out vital third-line construction and non-interlocking work on the Budhwal-Gonda section of the Gonda-Barabanki route. A total of nine train services, including popular routes such as the Lucknow-Patliputra Express and Anand Vihar Terminal-Chhapra Special, will experience either cancellations or diversions.

Train Cancellations

According to railway officials, the following services will be fully canceled:

  • 05305 Chhapra-Anand Vihar Terminal Special: Canceled on June 30 and July 3.
  • 05306 Anand Vihar Terminal-Chhapra Special: Canceled on June 25, June 28, July 2, and July 5.
  • 15033/15034 Lucknow Jn.-Patliputra-Lucknow Jn. Express: Canceled on July 1 and July 4.
  • 05049 Chhapra-Amritsar Special: Canceled on June 27 and July 4.
  • 05050 Amritsar-Chhapra Special: Canceled on June 28 and July 5.

Route Diversions and Skipped Stops

Several other trains will operate on changed routes, affecting their scheduled stops:

  • 15212 Amritsar-Darbhanga Express: From June 23 to June 29, 2025, this train will run via Roza, Lucknow, Ayodhya Cantt, and Mankapur instead of its regular route through Roza, Sitapur, Gonda, and Mankapur. Consequently, it will not stop at Mangalganj, Sitapur City, Sitapur, Budhwal, and Gonda stations.
  • 15211 Darbhanga-Amritsar Express: From June 30 to July 3, 2025, this service will be diverted via Raxaul, Sagauli, Muzaffarpur, and Chhapra Gramin. Its usual path through Raxaul, Narkatiaganj, Paniyhawa, Gorakhpur, Gonda, Budhwal, Sitapur, and Roza will be bypassed.
  • 12522 Ernakulam-Barauni Express: The train departing Ernakulam on June 27 will operate via Barabanki, Ayodhya Cantt, and Mankapur instead of its scheduled route through Barabanki, Gonda, and Mankapur. It will skip Gonda Junction during this period.
