Grand Republic Day Celebrations in Patna Today with Elaborate Preparations at Gandhi Maidan

Patna: Patna divisional commissioner Kumar Ravi has said that the 75th Republic Day celebrations in the city will be marked with grandeur, with the main state function set to take place at the historic Gandhi Maidan. This statement came during an official briefing at Gandhi Maidan on Thursday, where the Commissioner and District Magistrate conducted an inspection and finalized preparations for the upcoming event.

Addressing officials, Commissioner Ravi outlined comprehensive arrangements for the Republic Day festivities. The general public’s entry to Gandhi Maidan for the celebrations will be facilitated through Gate Number 4, 5, 6, and 7.

Commissioner Ravi personally oversaw preparations, including cleaning, barricading, seating arrangements, traffic management, parking, distribution of invitation letters, electricity arrangements, parade and rehearsal coordination, provision of drinking water, first aid facilities, fire-fighting arrangements, and loudspeaker setup. Each aspect, including the display of tableaux and law and order, was meticulously reviewed, and necessary instructions were issued.

To ensure law and order, Gandhi Maidan has been divided into sectors and sub-sectors, each assigned a senior charge in the form of an Additional District Magistrate and Deputy Superintendent of Police. A total of 92 magistrates have been deputed at 60 different locations within Gandhi Maidan and Kargil Smriti Chowk. Additionally, 4 Sector Magistrates will be on standby. Police officials, along with magistrates, will be deployed, and specialized forces, including women and lathi forces, will be ready on duty.

Republic Day Briefing at Patna

Commissioner Ravi emphasized the importance of continuous and proactive readiness among officials, directing them to prioritize strong security arrangements and timely actions. The main gate on the south side (gate numbers 9 and 10) will be exclusive for invited guests, while the general public will enter through gate number 4, 5, 6, and 7, with designated seating areas in the spectator gallery. After the ceremony concludes, all gates will be opened for public exit.

Distinguished individuals will enter through Gate number 10, and invited guests are urged to take their seats by 8:30 am. Commissioner Ravi highlighted that, in compliance with government directives, 14 departments of the Bihar Government will display tableaux at Gandhi Maidan, with nominated nodal officers overseeing the presentations on Republic Day 2024.
