Grand Sita Temple and Luv-Kush Park to Boost Religious Tourism in North Bihar, Says Deputy CM
Patna: Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced plans for a grand Sita temple to be constructed in Sitamarhi, the birthplace of mother Sita, alongside a Luv-Kush Park in Valmiki Nagar, West Champaran, dedicated to the legendary sons of Sita, Luv and Kush. The ambitious projects, with a combined budget of Rs 300 crore, aim to boost religious and cultural tourism in North Bihar and provide a significant employment boost for the local population.
Samrat shared details of the development during the 51st family reunion ceremony of Kushwaha Kalyan Parishad (Bihar) at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Park in Patna City. He said that the Government of India will contribute Rs 90 crore for the construction of the Sita temple, while the Bihar government will allocate Rs 120 crore, along with 50 acres of land. For the Luv-Kush Park in Valmiki Nagar, the central government will provide Rs 97 crore.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the historical significance of West Champaran, where Maharishi Valmiki’s ashram was located on the banks of three rivers. It is the place where Bhagwati Sita, in compliance with Lord Ram’s order, went into exile and gave birth to Luv and Kush. Choudhary added that the establishment of the Luv-Kush Park would fulfil the long-standing dream of millions.
In addition to the temple and park, Choudhary revealed plans to construct a budget hotel in the Janaki Bihar complex in Sitamarhi at a cost of Rs 29.87 crore. The hotel is expected to be completed by the end of 2026 and will further promote tourism in the region.
The Deputy Chief Minister underscored that the NDA government, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is committed to balancing development, social justice, investment, and employment while preserving Bihar’s cultural pride.
