Heat Wave Alert: Mercury Rising in Bihar, Hot and Dusty Winds Expected

Severe Heatwave Continues to Grip Bihar, Schools and Coaching Institutes Ordered Closed

Patna: The heat in Bihar is intensifying and is expected to take the form of a heat wave in the coming days. According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures in many districts will cross 35 degrees Celsius within the next 48 hours. Hot and dusty winds are likely to add to the discomfort, prompting officials to urge people to take precautions.

Buxar Hottest at 37.7°C

The Patna Meteorological Center recorded a significant increase in both maximum and minimum temperatures across the state, including the capital. Patna’s maximum temperature was recorded at 34.6°C, a rise of 1.2°C, while Buxar emerged as the hottest district at 37.7°C.

Except for Dehri, Nalanda, and Munger, most districts, including Patna, experienced a temperature surge. Patna’s minimum temperature was recorded at 21.6°C, whereas Pusa in Samastipur reported the lowest minimum temperature of 15.0°C.

Mercury to Rise for the Next Five Days

Partially cloudy skies were observed in Patna and its surrounding areas in the evening, while the morning remained clear. The weather department predicts that the capital’s maximum temperature will hover around 34-35°C over the next five days, with minimum temperatures ranging between 20-23°C.

Temperature Rising in Bhagalpur

Bhagalpur has also witnessed a steady rise in temperature due to prolonged sunshine. On Monday, both maximum and minimum temperatures increased by one degree, making the heat more noticeable. However, cooler western winds provided slight relief in the morning.

According to the Bihar Meteorological Service, the sky will remain mostly clear across the state in the next 24 hours. Light westerly winds will accompany bright sunshine, causing temperatures to rise further.

Meteorologist Dr. Neha Pareek of Bihar Agricultural University reported that Bhagalpur recorded a maximum temperature of 30.5°C and a minimum temperature of 17°C on Monday. The western wind was blowing at 4.9 km/h with 77% humidity. Wind speeds may increase at times, but overall, the weather is expected to remain stable for now.

With the rising heat and the possibility of a heat wave, residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and take necessary precautions to stay safe.
