Patna: After a brief spell of relief brought by thundershowers, south Bihar is set to swelter once again, with the Patna meteorological centre issuing a yellow alert for hot and humid conditions from May 8.

According to the Met office, both maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 4°C to 6°C over the next four days. Currently hovering between 36°C and 38°C, the mercury may soar to 42°C–44°C in parts of south Bihar by May 10.

While the southern districts prepare for a heatwave, north Bihar may experience some thundershowers on Tuesday, May 6, offering brief respite to residents.

The changing weather patterns are taking a toll on agriculture, particularly seasonal fruits. Weekly storms and rainfall have disrupted mango production across the state, while litchi crops in and around Muzaffarpur are also reportedly suffering from erratic conditions. Farmers are expressing concern over potential crop losses if weather instability persists.
