Rajgir: In a swift and well-coordinated late-night operation, the Rajgir police successfully rescued two foreign tourists who were trapped in the forested area of Ratnagiri mountain, a prominent site along the Buddhist circuit in Bihar.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sunil Kumar Singh, the incident took place around 8 pm on Sunday. Local residents alerted the police after hearing repeated cries of “Help me” coming from the forest. The tourists had reportedly lost their way while returning from a visit to Buddhist heritage sites in the area.

Prompt Police Action Saves the Day

Upon receiving the alert, the police quickly mobilized a rescue team under the leadership of DSP Sunil Kumar Singh. The team included SHO Raman Kumar, Inspector Dharmesh Gupta, Praveen Pratap Singh, and personnel from the Bihar Special Auxiliary Police (BSAP). The rescuers trekked through the dark, hilly terrain to locate and safely extract the trapped tourists.

The operation was described as “challenging due to the difficult terrain and limited visibility,” but the team succeeded in locating both individuals unharmed.

Identities of Rescued Tourists

The two tourists were later identified as James Piggot, a citizen of Ireland, and Rafael Ryan from Venezuela. Both were in Rajgir as part of a spiritual journey exploring the Buddhist pilgrimage circuit, which includes historic sites connected to the life and teachings of Lord Buddha.
