Hina Shahab Files Nomination as Independent Candidate from Siwan
Siwan: Hina Shahab, wife of former Member of Parliament Mohd Shahabuddin, clandestinely filed her nomination as an independent candidate today. Shahab, accompanied by a small group of 10 to 12 individuals, arrived at the Collectorate without prior announcement to submit her nomination papers. The suddenness of her appearance led to a gathering of onlookers at the Collectorate.
Shahab filed her nomination at 11 in the morning and departed precisely two hours later after completing the formalities. Addressing the media post-nomination, she cited the intense sunlight as the reason for the discreet enrollment, expressing concern for the well-being of her supporters amidst the scorching heat. She reiterated her commitment to advancing the interests of Siwan and appealed to voters for their support in the upcoming election.
Hina Shahab has previously contested elections under the banner of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), facing defeat thrice. She attributed her past losses to the RJD and lamented the growing rift between her and the party following the demise of her husband, Shahabuddin. Despite having voiced loyalty to the RJD in the past, Shahab’s decision to contest independently reflects the strain in her relationship with the party.
Having issued statements indicating her willingness to contest independently, Shahab emphasized her connection with the people of Siwan and underscored her decision to part ways with the RJD. The departure marks a significant shift for Shahab, who had previously remained steadfast in her allegiance to the party despite differences.
