Motihari: A newly constructed house in Bihar’s East Champaran district has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. Built partially on a public road in the Belwa area near National Highway 28, the structure has become a bizarre landmark, drawing attention from across the country and causing daily traffic disruptions.
Viral videos and photos circulating online show vehicles struggling to navigate around the house, which juts prominently onto the main road. The narrow passage left for traffic has led to frequent congestion and road safety concerns. Locals say the house has been under construction for some time, and despite repeated complaints, no action was taken by the authorities.
Eyewitnesses claim that the builder began construction by encroaching on the roadside land, raising questions about how such a structure was allowed to come up in the first place. Social media users have reacted with disbelief and humour, dubbing it “India’s boldest real estate project”.
In response to the viral outrage, local officials from the Motihari Municipal Council have launched an investigation. They are assessing whether the construction violates municipal or highway regulations, and action—including possible demolition—may follow.
