Patna: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna witnessed a vibrant celebration of literature and culture with the grand Virat Kavi Sammelan, held on the final day of its bi-weekly Campus Immersion Programme. The evening brought together leading voices in Hindi poetry, echoing sentiments of patriotism, romance, social consciousness and humour across the campus.

The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana, led jointly by invited poets alongside academic and administrative dignitaries including AK Thakur (Registrar and Dean of Administration), NK Tomar (Dean of Resources), Neeraj Rajhans (General Secretary, Microtech), and Anantashutosh Dwivedi (Director General, Heritage Society).

Renowned poets from across India captivated the audience with verses that touched on contemporary realities, emotional depth and national pride.

Sahitya Akademi awardee Nilotpal Mrinal, visiting from Bhopal, opened with socially resonant lines:
“If someone asks, we will tell him,
We will show the coming generations…”
Veer Ras poet Vineet Chauhan from Rajasthan stirred patriotic fervour with lines such as:
“Bharat Maa does not keep any coward child…”
Local poets Kumar Rajat and Chandan Dwivedi from Patna enthralled the audience with their Shringar and Karun Ras poetry, while Shikha Deepti Dixit of Ghaziabad presented emotion-rich verses, declaring:
“Mujhe hai Ram ki saugandh, Sita banke nikalungi…”

The programme also featured Prayagraj’s Radheshyam Bharti, whose humorous poetry drew frequent applause, and Ashutosh Tripathi from Deoria, whose passionate recitations were enthusiastically received.

The Sammelan was more than a literary showcase; it proved a powerful confluence of poetic expression, national spirit and human emotion. Its success was marked by enthusiastic participation from students, faculty and visitors alike.

Through performances that inspired reflection and dialogue, the event underscored IIT Patna’s commitment not only to technical excellence but also to fostering cultural and literary engagement within its academic ecosystem.
