Husband Flees After Allegedly Killing Wife With Axe in Bagaha, Bihar

West Champaran / Patna : A man is on the run after allegedly killing his wife with an axe in the Bagaha area of Bihar’s West Champaran district, police said on Monday.

According to local reports, the woman’s body was discovered by villagers outside her home early on Sunday morning. The ground nearby was stained with blood, and she appeared to have suffered severe wounds to the neck.

Relatives allege that the woman, who had been married for around 20 years and was the mother of three children, had long been subjected to domestic abuse. Her brother told reporters that her husband was frequently drunk and quarrelsome, and that the couple had a troubled relationship. He added that he was informed of the killing by locals who found the body and alerted both the family and the police.

Dhanaha police station incharge Dharmveer Bharti confirmed that the woman had been attacked with a sharp weapon, believed to be an axe, which has since been recovered. “The husband has murdered his wife by chopping her with an axe and after the incident, he has fled from home,” Bharti said. “At present, the police has sent the body for postmortem and is engaged in investigating the case.”

Officers said the motive remains unclear, though some residents claim the man suspected his wife of infidelity. Bharti stated that the true cause will only be established after further investigation and once the suspect has been apprehended.
