IAS Sanjeev Hans' remand ends: Sent to Beur jail after face-to-face interrogation with five accused

Patna: IAS officer Sanjeev Hans has been sent to Beur jail after seven days of questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case. Following extensive interrogation, Hans was presented in a special court on Tuesday, where he was placed under judicial custody in Patna’s Beur jail. If further investigation is required, ED will conduct additional questioning at the jail.

The remand period for four other accused, including former MLA Gulab Yadav, is ongoing. Once their remand periods conclude, they will also be presented in court and transferred to jail. Yadav’s remand will continue for two more days, while the remand for the remaining three accused is in place until the 4th. ED aims to complete their questioning during this period to avoid further extensions.

On the final day of Hans’ remand, ED cross-examined him alongside the other four accused by questioning them face-to-face. Gulab Yadav, Shadab Khan, Pushpraj Bajaj, and Praveen Chaudhary were each seated opposite Hans for individual questioning. Answers given during separate interrogations were cross-verified, and statements related to the assets of Hans and Yadav were compared.

Tomorrow, ED plans to question the three other accused alongside Gulab Yadav, matching their responses with previous statements. If needed, ED may apply for an extension of Hans’ remand from the CBI special court.
