'If An Encounter Is Needed, Do It': Deputy CM Vijay Sinha On Munger ASI Murder Case

Patna/Munger: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has taken a strong stance on crime control, stating that criminals will be dealt with strictly. “The administration will explain to them in a language they understand. If an encounter is needed, do it. The government has given full freedom for necessary action,” he told reporters during Holi celebrations in Patna.

Sinha’s remarks come after police arrested Guddu Yadav, accused in the murder of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Santosh Kumar Singh in Munger. However, while being transported, Yadav allegedly attempted to snatch a weapon from the police, prompting officers to open fire in self-defense, injuring him in the leg.

During the incident, the police vehicle reportedly lost control while avoiding a herd of goats near Bakharpur, colliding with a tree and overturning. Taking advantage of the chaos, Yadav allegedly tried to grab a constable’s rifle in an attempt to escape but was shot by the police.

The injured accused is currently receiving treatment at Sadar Hospital, along with Mufassil police station in-charge Chandan Kumar, Sub-Inspector Shriram Prasad, Constable Mohammad Saif Ali, and Chowkidar Raghunath, who were also injured in the accident.

Earlier, police had arrested four suspects in connection with the ASI’s murder. The government, Sinha reiterated, is committed to ending crime and will take strict action against those who challenge law enforcement.
