IGIMS Introduces Advanced Bi-Plane Cath Lab and Expanded Emergency Ward
Patna: The Cardiology Department at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna has introduced a state-of-the-art Bi-Plane Cath Lab, a significant advancement in cardiac care for the region. This is the first Bi-Plane Cath Lab to be installed in a government hospital in Bihar and Jharkhand.
The Bi-Plane Cath Lab, acquired under the PMGSY scheme at a cost of approximately Rs 8-10 crore, utilizes two X-ray machines to provide high-resolution images of the heart and brain blood vessels. This technology enables faster and more accurate diagnosis and treatment, reducing procedure time and minimizing exposure to contrast dye and radiation.
The inauguration of the Bi-Plane Cath Lab by the state Health Minister coincides with the inauguration of an expanded emergency ward at IGIMS. The relocation of the Regional Eye Institute to a new building has allowed for the expansion of the emergency ward, increasing the number of beds to 125 and enhancing critical care facilities with increased ICU and HDU capacity.
These advancements at IGIMS will significantly improve the quality of healthcare services available to patients in Bihar and surrounding regions.
