
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch and lay foundation stones for development projects exceeding Rs 48,500 crore during a high-security public address in Bihar’s Rohtas district.
Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a public meeting in Bikramganj, Rohtas district, today, as part of his two-day tour of Bihar. Modi is scheduled to arrive at the venue by helicopter at 10.30am, where he will be joined shortly after by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Governor Arif Mohammad Khan.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate infrastructure and development projects worth more than Rs 48,500 crore. A massive stage and canopy have been set up across 444 acres, with elaborate arrangements including a floral welcome, using flowers flown in from Kolkata and Patna. Preparations were in their final stages on Thursday, with local artisans completing garlands for the occasion.
Among the projects being inaugurated are the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi four-lane road, a Rs 249 crore elevated four-lane in Gopalganj, automatic block signalling on the Sasaram–Anugrah Narayan Road stretch, and several third rail lines including those between Son Nagar–Muhammad Ganj and Kajart Nawadih–Son Nagar. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate new hostel and staff quarters in Jehanabad.
Key projects for which the foundation stone will be laid include three 800 MW power units under phase two in Navi Nagar, a new Ganga bridge between Buxar and Bharouli on NH-922, and the Ramnagar–Kacchi Dargah NH-119D, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,083 crore. Other initiatives include railway platform terminals in Harding Park, Patna; the Patna–Ara–Sasaram four-lane corridor on NH-119A; and the six-lane Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata section of NH-319B.
Security at the venue has been tightened significantly. Over 5,000 personnel, including 10 Superintendents of Police and 50 Deputy Superintendents, have been deployed. A total of 250 security checkpoints have been established, each staffed by a magistrate and police officer. A temporary police station has been set up on-site, and 10 fire tenders and ambulances will be stationed for emergencies.
