India Will Roar as a Golden Lion: Samrat Chaudhary at NIFT Certificate Distribution

Begusarai: Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary distributed certificates to successful participants of a workshop organised at the Begusarai Extension Centre of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Patna. Speaking at the event, Chaudhary highlighted the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in promoting livelihoods and strengthening infrastructure in Bihar.

He credited Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh for establishing the Begusarai NIFT Extension Centre and announced plans to open two more NIFT centres in Bihar, specifically in Bhagalpur and Madhubani, known as hubs of weaving. He emphasised the historical resilience of India and envisioned the nation transforming into a “golden lion” under Modi’s leadership, capable of leading the world and fostering prosperity for women and small industries.

Chaudhary also advocated for economic empowerment programs like those in Darbhanga, where camps provided loans to thousands of women. He called for similar initiatives in Begusarai to bolster small-scale industries and support women’s employment. He praised ongoing infrastructure development, including medical colleges, polytechnic colleges, and the expansion of the Barauni refinery, showcasing the government’s commitment to holistic progress.

Director of Patna NIFT Colonel Rahul Sharma and Begusarai MLA Kundan Kumar also addressed the gathering. Certificates were distributed to 30 participants who completed a three-day workshop on basic western pattern making and cutting for women’s clothing. The workshop trained Jeevika Didis, members of self-help groups, to develop patterns for tops and skirts, equipping them with advanced skills to enhance their self-reliance.

Participants also learnt dart manipulation techniques for design variations and expressed interest in learning bag stitching. Training was provided for cutting and stitching bags on a production line, with Jeevika providing paid orders for plastic bag production. The initiative aims to uplift women by fostering skill development and improving their livelihoods.
